Integrated Events & Project Management

Introduces students to the principles of light and sound. Students will be given an understanding of the effects that light and sound has on the environment. They will learn how to design, experiment, select and implement light and sound systems for different events.

Give students an understanding of basic microeconomic and macroeconomic concepts. Students will understand the principles of distribution and consumption of products & services through topics such as resource allocation, demand and supply, price determination, production equilibrium, market structure, national income, macro equilibrium and objectives, monetary and fiscal policies and international trade.

Provides students with an understanding of the principles of management. Students will be introduced to the process of management, decision making, organisation behaviour & culture, organisation structure & design, leadership and motivation theories, group dynamics, communication and interpersonal skills.

Gives an appreciation of the nature and sources of law as well as the structure and hierarchy of courts in Singapore. It introduces Law of Contract and Law of Tort and their roles in business and economic activities.

Provides students with foundational understanding of event planning and management. The module will introduce students to elements in event conceptualisation and creation, market research, event and public policy, event proposal ans bids, food & beverage, and event technology. Students will also be given a heads up on trends impacting the event industry.

This module aims to equip students with the skills in the interpretation of technical drawings and drafting of details related to events and/or facilities management. Students will learn the fundamentals of manual drafting and computer aided drafting.

Gives students an understanding of the types of application software that can be used in preparing promotional materials for events and projects. Students will learn the skills to make various types of promotional materials like brochures, posters, leaflets, flyers and videos using application software.

Gives students an understanding of the role of marketing in the events industry. Students will learn the concepts and process of marketing, market segmentation and positioning, marketing strategies, key elements of a marketing plan and importance of branding.

Aims to give students an authentic, insightful and enjoyable experience of all the processes involved in the conceptualisation, planning, production and management of a hybrid event.

Develop critical and analytical thinking skills, along with the ability to present your point of view with credible and relevant evidence. Enhance your knowledge and appreciation of local and global issues covered in the 17 SDGs, with a focus on the former.

Leverage digital communication to engage, inspire and impact stakeholders diligently. Learn about responsible Digital Citizenship and how you can create engaging and impactful messages through various digital platforms and tools.

Find out what goes into a healthy and productive team where ideas, insights, and responsibilities are shared meaningfully. Sharpen your interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively in a digital environment.

Acquire the skills needed to write in clear and concise English to effectively communicate an intended message to your target audience. Apply these skills when writing for specific contexts, such as scenarios related to the SDGs.

Develop data fluency skills such as formulating questions, processing and analysing data to articulate numerical and graphical summaries. Build a simple data dashboard to generate insights and support a solution for a chosen SDG.

Appreciate the use of both creative and computational thinking skills to solve a SDG-related problem. Apply focused and diffuse thinking , brainstorming techniques, and the four pillars of computational thinking to a chosen SDG.

Aims to develop initiative, self-reliance and organisational abilities by making students work independently in an authentic work situation. It draws upon the various aspects of the course content and requires students to integrate their learning through initiation, planning, implementation, execution and shutdown of an event. Students will be working in groups and guided by a project facilitator.

Gives students an understanding of the basic requirements for logistics and operations for events. Students will learn the logistics requirements for the supply of event customers, products and facilities for event/site logistics, operation, maintenance and shutdown including ticketing, queuing, transportation, accommodation, infrastructure facilities, car parking, communication, cleaning & waste management, risk management, etc.

Gives students an understanding of environmental safety & health issues in the events industry including accident prevention, risk assessment and management, general safety measures, health & hygiene issues, electrical, mechanical & fire hazards, energy conservation, safety audit, waste management, etc.

Gives students an understanding of the principle and practice of the MICE industry. Topics covered include fundamentals of organising business meetings and seminars, incentive travel programmes, conventions, exhibition and trade shows.

Equips students with skillsets in using computer applications for storing, organizing and manipulating data; to support data analysis for business applications and for facilities management/project planning and scheduling.

Gives students to understand of the various cost areas in a budget for an event, practical means of controlling cash flow for an event and the management of revenues including event sponsorship.

Provide students with an understanding of the various types of event facilities and materials used in the event industry suitable for indoor and outdoor venues. Topics will include ground preparation works, barricades, scaffolding and ancillary structures, backdrop and props, tentages and stages, grandstands, signage and exhibition cubicles.

This module aims to introduce project management as an approach to event management and operations and to explore the integration of project management principles and sustainability practices with emphasis on the importance of environmental, social, and economic considerations in events project planning, management and execution. It gives an understanding of the global sustainability plans and frameworks and how they are applicable to MICE/events industry in Singapore.

Work in multi-disciplinary groups to apply design thinking methods, backed by research and qualitative data, to tackle local sustainable issues mapped to the SDGs. Tap into knowledge and skills learnt in CCC modules to create innovative prototypes for real-life issues faced by local communities.

Get a head start in your career with the necessary skill sets, knowledge and tools to create your very own personal brand. Learn effective strategies to set yourself apart from the competition, and put it to good use and create awareness about the SDGs.

Develop data visualisation skills and apply narrative elements and persuasive delivery techniques to communicate data effectively. Learn to craft compelling narratives, based on hard facts and data, to call stakeholders into taking action to tackle the SDGs.

Gives students an understanding of the globalisation of business and the impact of culture on operating and managing business in a multicultural market and workplace. Students will be given an appreciation of culture generally and an understanding of cultural differences among people, methods of dealing with the differences and cross-cultural communication in the business environment.

Give students an understanding of traditional & non-traditional venues, venue evaluation & selection, space management of event venues, management, maintenance & operation of venues and security management. Students will also learn the essentials of managing event services such as electrical, mechanical ventilation and air-conditioning system, fire protection and communication, plumbing and sanitary installations in events.

Give students an understanding of the role of public relations and sponsorship management in the context of events industry. Students will learn the functions, planning process, techniques and tools of public relations. They will also learn about effective sponsorship strategies, sponsors management and manage leveraging activities.

Gives students an understanding of the role of events in the travel and tourism industry. Appreciate the emerging trends in MICE events and work with stakeholders to enhance user experiences for meetings, conferences and exhibition.

Give students an understanding of procurement and its processes. Provides an overview of the procurement methods, procedures, use of tender document to procure events, materials, goods & services, legal requirements of hosting public events. Students will learn the concepts and principles of negotiation, knowledge and skills for effective negotiation. Also, discuss negotiation strategies, tactics, processes, the preparation and execution of negotiation.

Provides opportunity to gain professional working experience through attachments to companies or organizations, both locally and overseas. With options for both 22-week and year-long internships, students can choose the duration that best aligns with their learning objectives and career aspirations. Students are required to prepare reports and proper documentations reflecting their experiences and learnings from the internship programme.
