Alumna, Diploma in Integrated Events & Project Management
2022 DEPM Gold Medallist
As an aspiring event planner, being in the School of Architecture and Built Environment (ABE) provided me with a lot of opportunities to experience the world of event management. At the beginning of my time here, I attended ABE’s Freshmen Orientation Camp which allowed me to befriend other people from my school and helped me to adjust to the new school environment quicker. I also got to attend events such as Freakshow, a Halloween Night Walk which was extremely fun, and Retrofest, a mini retro-themed carnival. One memorable take away from my 3 years in SP was the DEPM Alumni Night, which was the first event that I’ve ever planned.
I had my internship at a local Non-Profit Organisation, Club Rainbow (Singapore). Club Rainbow is a registered charity committed to supporting and empowering children and youths with chronic illnesses, and their families in their journey towards an enriching life. This internship helped me understand more about Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Down Syndrome etc, and allowed me to befriend the beneficiaries and learn how to manage their conditions. As the Vice-President of SP’s Community Service and Cultural Club (CSCC), my internship experience definitely aided me in leading my juniors in conducting community service events by helping me to understand the needs of these youths and their families. CSCC was not only a CCA, but it was where I formed some of my closest bonds in SP. I was able to take my mind off academics as it reminded me to not overly obsess over studies and try to make meaningful connections. It was a fulfilling 3 years in ABE, and I would not exchange this for any other.
