Financial Assistance for Your Poly Education

Various forms of financial support can be accessed by SP students.
There are schemes to help pay for tuition fees and also schemes to help you with daily living expenses.

The following is a summary of the available financial schemes to help defray your expenses as a student in Singapore Polytechnic.

Answer: Financial assistance in SP includes MOE and Donor-Sponsored bursaries, subsidies, and scholarships.

2. Question: Which financial assistance should I choose from?

Answer: Please refer to the eligibility criteria indicated for the MOE and Donor-Sponsored Bursaries. If you meet the criteria, you may apply during the application window.

3. Question: What happens if I miss the financial aid application deadline?

Answer: Please refer to our website for the next application opening date and submit your application and supporting documents on time.

5. Question: What is the difference between financial schemes and other finance schemes?

Answer: Financial Schemes like Mendaki TTFS, PSEA, CPF Education Loan, and MOE Tuition Fee Loan (TFL) primarily help with tuition payments through loans, subsidies, or accounts, often requiring repayment or meeting specific criteria.

Financial Assistance includes bursaries, laptop subsidies and SP Needy Fund for students facing acute financial challenges. These assist you in covering living and study costs based on financial need.

6. Question: How can I check the status of my financial aid application?

Answer: You can check the status through the student portal.

7. Question: How do I know if I am eligible for financial assistance?

Answer: To determine your eligibility for financial assistance, you can check the specific criteria for each scheme. For more detailed information and to check the requirements, you can refer to the website under the individual schemes.

8. Question: How much will my education in SP cost?

Answer: The cost of education at Singapore Polytechnic (SP) varies depending on your residency status and other factors. You may refer to the Full-Time Diploma Course Fees for more information.

Aside from tuition, you should budget for the following items per year:

  • Books and Supplies: $400
  • Transport: $540
  • Meals: $1,000

These costs are estimates, excluding vacation periods. IT devices, like laptops, are also required, with prices ranging from $1,300 to $4,000 depending on the model and course requirement.

9. Question: Do I need to apply for the MOE Tuition Grant?

Answer: Tuition fees for full-time diploma programs at SP are heavily subsidised through the Tuition Grant scheme, which is available to all students regardless of citizenship. However, you may need to serve a bond if you are a permanent resident or an international student.

10. Question: How do I pay my course fees?

Answer: SP will send your e-Bill to your SP student email account on the actual fees payable after semester starts. Please pay by the due date stated on your e-Bill. If you have an approved GIRO arrangement with the Polytechnic, the last 4 digits of your authorised bank account for deduction and the deduction date will be shown on the e-Bill. You can pay via GIRO, SAS2 (DPFT students only), PayNow, AXS or at One Stop Centre (OSC).

11. Question: Can I apply for both Finance Scheme and Financial Assistance?

Answer: Yes, you can apply for more than one, subject to eligibility.

12. Question: What if I have not received my result for the Financial Assistance application, but my tuition fees are due?

Answer: Please settle your tuition fees using your own funds. If you are not able to, please write to SP's Financial Assistance Team for further guidance.

13. Question: What if my application is unsuccessful?

Answer: You may apply for other Financial Schemes and Assistance during the designated application period.
