If you’re preparing for university and want to make the most of your diploma time, an SP diploma can let you fast-track your education by 0.5-2 years!
Learn about the differences between Advanced Standing and University Level Programmes, also known as, Accelerated Pathway Programmes (APP).
Currently, SP has partnerships with four local universities allowing eligible students from 15 diplomas to fast-track their degrees.
Eligible students have the opportunity to take on university modules taught by the universities, in lieu of SP elective modules. These university-level modules will fulfil SP graduation requirements and mapped to SP's Examination Grading System. The credits may also be recognised by the relevant university when they choose to pursue a degree with them.
The SP-NTU APP allows eligible students from the Singapore Polytechnic, Diploma in Civil Engineering (SP DCE) to take three modules offered by Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in their final semester with SP (Year-3 Semester-2) in place of three SP School Elective modules. For each completed NTU module, the relevant credit and grade will be mapped to the SP Examination Grading System and reflected in the final transcript of the student’s diploma course.
The SP-NTU APP enables eligible students from the Singapore Polytechnic, Diploma in Chemical Engineering (SP DCHE) to take three modules offered by Bachelor of Engineering (Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering) at Nanyang
Technological University (NTU) in place of three SP School Elective modules. For each completed NTU module, the relevant credit and grade will be mapped to the SP Examination Grading System and reflected in the final transcript of the student’s diploma course.
The SP-NUS APP allows eligible students from the diplomas listed above to take modules offered by National University of Singapore Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in their final year in SP. For each completed NUS module, the relevant credit and grade will be mapped to the SP Examination Grading System and reflected in the final transcript of the student’s diploma course.
The SP-NUS APP allows eligible students from the Singapore Polytechnic, Diploma in Chemical Engineering (DCHE) to take three modules offered by Bachelor of Engineering (Chemical Engineering) at NUS’s College of Design and Engineering while studying at SP. These university-level modules will fulfil SP graduation requirements via the SP elective modules. In addition, NUS will recognise the credits earned through APP if SP students choose to pursue their first degree there.
The SP-NUS APP allows eligible students from SP's School of Chemical and Life Sciences (CLS) courses to take modules taught by NUS's College of Humanities and Sciences and College of Design and Engineering while studying at SP. These university-level modules will fulfil SP graduation requirements via the SP elective modules. In addition, NUS will recognise the credits earned through APP if SP students choose to pursue their first degree there.
The SP-NUS APP allows eligible students from the Singapore Polytechnic, Diploma in Facilities Management (SP DFM) to take three modules offered by Bachelor of Engineering (Infrastructure & Project Management) at NUS in their final semester with SP (Year-3 Semester-2) in place of three SP Elective modules. For each completed NUS module, the relevant credit and grade will be mapped to the SP Examination Grading System and reflected in the final transcript of the student’s diploma course.
The SP-SMU APP allows eligible students from the Singapore Polytechnic School of Computing to take two modules at the School of Computing and Information Systems of the Singapore Management University in their final semester at SP (Year-3 Semester-2) in place of two SP School Elective modules. For each completed SMU module, the relevant credits and grades will be mapped to the SP Examination Grading System and reflected in the final transcript of the student’s diploma course.
The modules offered in this programme comprise:
Option 1: Modules offered under the Information Systems programme
Option 2: Modules offered under the Computer Science programme
The SP-SUTD APP will allow Singapore Polytechnic School of Electrical & Electronic Engineering students the opportunity to study SUTD modules in their final semester at SP, alongside SUTD students in their Freshmore year. This will allow APP students who choose to progress to SUTD after graduation, to complete their SUTD degree in a shorter period of time. Students who are eligible for this programme will complete the regular SP curriculum in about 5 semesters, compared to the usual 6 semesters.

The SP-SUTD APP will allow SP Diploma in Architecture students the opportunity to study SUTD modules in their final semester at SP, alongside SUTD students in their Freshmore year. Students who are eligible for this programme will complete the regular SP curriculum in about 5 semesters, compared to the usual 6 semesters. Successful pathway programme students who choose to continue their studies with SUTD after Term 1 can progress immediately to SUTD Term 2 without having to wait another year, thereby shortening the time needed to acquire a degree at SUTD.
