Direct Admissions Exercise (DAE)

Overview

The Direct Admissions Exercise (DAE) allows applicants whose qualifications fall in the below categories to apply for admission to our full-time diploma courses. Admission is based on academic merit and subjected to available vacancies of the diploma courses.

 



Eligibility

Applicants with the following qualifications may apply to Singapore Polytechnic via DAE.

Note: Singapore-Cambridge GCE 'O' Level holders who have applied through the JAE and the EAE may not apply again through SP's DAE (except for those applying for the Nautical Studies course) as their DAE application will be invalidated. ITE qualification holders (except ex-polytechnic students and those applying for the Diploma of Nautical Studies) should only apply through the JPAE.”​

SP may consider your school-based results if your national exams/results have been delayed due to the pandemic situation. Candidates are required to sit for Online Entrance Tests. Should there be sufficient candidates, SP may conduct online Entrance Tests in neighbouring home countries.

Interested applicants may complete the electronic application form (E-Form) and submit the required supporting documents.

Should the qualifications be printed in a language other than English, please provide an English translation.

Other qualifications will be assessed on a case-by-case basis, but should generally have the following:

Completed High School (Year 12)

  • Minimum grade B for English
  • Minimum grade B for Mathematics
  • Minimum grade B for the relevant subject
  • Minimum grade B for 2 other subjects

Applicants fulfilling the above criteria may be shortlisted to sit for an Entrance Test in English, Mathematics and Science.

 

Terms and Conditions

  • The polytechnic reserves the right to amend the information provided without prior notice. Those residing overseas offered entrance tests in Singapore have to make their own arrangements if they wish to sit for the test. The above closing dates still apply.
  • Meeting the minimum entry requirements is not a guarantee that a candidate will be shortlisted or selected. Shortlisting / selection will depend on competition for limited course vacancies in the year of application.
  • Those offering GCE / GCSE / IGCSE qualifications will be assessed fully on this qualification and no entrance tests will apply. It cannot be used in combination with any other qualification for entrance test subject exemption.
  • An applicant is deemed to have attained a sufficient level of Proficiency in the English Language if he / she attains a TOEFL minimum score of 78 [internet-based] within the last 2 years, or IELTS (International English Language Testing System) minimum score of 6.0 (overall and for all the components) within the last 2 years or passes our English Language entrance test. Our English entrance test is only offered to selected / shortlisted applicants. 

 



How to Apply

Application Status and Enquiry

You may check if your application has been received by the Admissions Office via the Singapore Polytechnic Course Application Service & Enquiry (SP CASE) website > Enquire Course Application Status.

All applicants will be notified of the application outcome via email by 1 April (ITE qualification holders who applied in February will be notified by mid-end April).

You are not required to attach the Acknowledgement Slip if you are uploading your documents at SP CASE.

You are required to submit clear copies of the following documents (where applicable):

- Identification Document:
• NRIC (front and back) for Singaporean, Singapore Permanent Resident and Malaysian
• Passport and Student Pass (if any) for non-Singaporean

- Academic Qualifications:
• Local: GCE ‘O’ / ‘A’ Levels / IP / ITE (Certificate & Academic Transcript) / IGCSE from Singapore Secondary Schools
• Malaysia: SPM / STPM / UEC / UECV
• International: Educational Certificate(s) and transcripts/results slip.
Should the qualifications be printed in a language other than English, please also submit an English translation.

- CCA record (with CCA grade included)
• For GCE ‘O’ / IP qualification holders

- For Diploma in Nautical Studies course applicant
• Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) Sight Test results
•  Shipping Company Sponsorship Letter (International students)

You must submit the supporting documents by the application deadline. Otherwise, your application will not be processed.
