A team of two students from the Diploma in Information Technology course, Nyan Lin Htun and Kaushik Manian, along with a student from the DIploma in Computer Engineering course, won first place in the Senior Category at the Global Indian International School (GIIS) Hackathon X 2K24. The event, held from July 26 to 27, 2024, was a 24-hour hackathon designed to foster innovation and develop problem-solving skills. This year, it attracted over 250 student participants from various secondary schools and polytechnics.
The winning team came up with the idea to create a smart, modular, self-sustaining watering system that autonomously cares for plants. Within 24 hours, they designed a system that monitors soil moisture, adjusts water levels, and ensures plants thrive without human intervention. Additionally, they incorporated an AI plant disease detector. This project not only showcases our students’ technical skills but also their commitment to sustainability.
