Alumna, Diploma in Maritime Business
2024 DMB Gold Medallist

My decision to pursue Maritime Business at SP was influenced by a combination of factors. My senior, who had studied the same course, shared her positive experience with me, highlighting the supportive lecturers and engaging modules. Additionally, my father’s advice about the significance of the maritime industry in global trade opened my eyes to the wealth of opportunities in this field. The importance of shipping, even though often overlooked, was something I came to appreciate deeply, as it plays a vital role in transporting everyday essentials. SP’s strong reputation, renowned teaching resources, and convenient location near the MRT further solidified my decision to enroll.

During my time at SP, I had many enriching experiences that extended beyond the classroom. One of my favourite memories was the Maritime Experiential Learning Camp on the Genting Dream Cruise to Phuket. This camp not only allowed me to bond with peers from other maritime courses but also gave me invaluable insights into the industry. Being actively involved in the Welfare Services Club, I also had the privilege of organising a trip for the elderly to visit Bird Paradise. Leading the group and seeing their joy made the experience truly memorable.

Of course, my SP journey wasn’t without its challenges. I encountered difficulties when working with unresponsive teammates in group projects. However, by fostering open communication and setting clear expectations, I was able to navigate these challenges effectively. These experiences, combined with the opportunities for internships and networking, have equipped me with skills to be life-, work-, and world-ready. SP has helped me grow both professionally and personally, and I’m excited to continue building on what I’ve learned as I step into the future.
