Two SP teams excelled at RoboCup Asia-Pacific 2024, 24 to 27 Oct 2024, China, Qingdao. Between them, they clinched 1st Place, 2nd Place and two Best Technical Paper awards.
RoboCup Asia-Pacific (RCAP) is the largest and most prestigious robotics and artificial intelligence (AI) competition in the Asia-Pacific region. It attracted nearly 200 teams from over 20 countries and regions globally, including leading robotics companies such as Fourier Intelligence, Booster Robotics, and Unitree that also showcased their latest humanoid robots and participated in the competition.
SP teams comprised eight students from EEE and MAE who earned the opportunity to represent SP in the RCAP CoSpace Rescue University and CoSpace Autonomous Delivery University categories through National Robotics Competition 2024, a national level selection competition for RCAP Internationals.
The students were guided by supervisors Han Xinyu and Yang Tianwu. Team Robo-Erectus-Rescue, comprising students Syed Jawad Maahin (DEB), Sara Tan Xiao Tong (DEB), Joel Wong Shao Rong (DEEE) and Sam Hoe Yin (DMRO) clinched 1st Place, RCAP CoSpace Rescue, University; 1st Place, RCAP CoSpace Vision Technical Challenge, University; and Best Technical Paper, RCAP CoSpace Rescue, University. Team Robo-Erectus-ADL, comprising students Nicholas Liu Chang Le (DASE), Chan Keng Yeow (DASE), Darren Lim Xian Hong (DCPE) and Subramaniyan S/O Pandi Raj (DEB) attained 1st Place, RCAP CoSpace Autonomous Delivery, University; 2nd Place, RCAP CoSpace Vision Technical Challenge, University; and Best Technical Paper, RCAP Autonomous Delivery, University.
