EEE team won first prize at the inaugural technology competition InnovateFest2023 in the Polytechnic category. This competition was jointly organised by Dell Technologies and the Movement for the Intellectually Disabled of Singapore (MINDS). It aimed for participants to use various emerging technologies to develop innovative solutions to support the local community with intellectual disabilities and enhance their standard of living.
EEE team designed an app, named “SportyBuddies” to match people with intellectual disabilities based on the physical activities they are interested in, giving them the chance to meet new people. The team also used augmented reality technology and recorded teaching videos to allow people with intellectual disabilities to learn football, badminton, basketball, dance, and fitness at home.
Augmented reality provides users with a three-dimensional human image that can be demonstrated live, and in a more interactive manner. Users could move the character around, zoom in or out, and could also touch the character with their hands and watch it move.
