Diploma in Applied AI & Analytics | Year 1
During my time at the Polytechnic Foundation Programme, my team did a service-learning project at Lion Befrienders Active Ageing Centre in the module Active and Effective Citizenry and I was able to deeply interact with local societal challenges. My understanding of community needs, and collaboration and critical thinking abilities has improved because of the module. By practicing the "7 Habits of Highly Effective People" throughout the project, the module has reaffirmed my dedication to personal development. I'm still using the lessons I learnt from this experience in both my academic and professional life.
The Common Core Curriculum (CCC) has had a significant influence in both my course and personal growth. I have improved as a communicator and team player through modules like Collaboration in the Digital Age (CDA), Problem Solving with Creative and Computational Thinking (PSCCT), and working with others during group projects. In CDA, I gained knowledge on how to be an effective team player based on the CATME model, draft a team charter, run effective meetings, and give teammates constructive feedback at the end of the project. These abilities came in very handy for our longer group assignments. I also gained additional problem-solving skills from the PSCCT module, such as SCAMPER and computational methods, which we all used to solve issues pertaining to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
