Year 2, Diploma in Food Science and Technology
The Common Core Curriculum (CCC) has not only enabled me to explore topics and skills beyond my main course of study but also to develop essential 21st-century soft skills, elevating my education to a more holistic level.
The most memorable module is the Overseas Sustainable Innovation Project (OSIP). OSIP, being the capstone module of the Common Core Curriculum (CCC), helped me put the skills I learned in the CCC into real-life use to solve a real-world community problem. I spent 12 days overseas in an ASEAN community, learning about their needs and helping them solve a community problem. Using Design Thinking and with the help of the overseas community to which I was assigned, with my team, I ideated prototypes that were further refined with the help of the overseas community themselves.
I treasured this opportunity to learn from a diverse culture and derived much unique value from the experience. To top it all off, OSIP was an incredibly fun module, and it was a memorable experience to travel with poly mates from other diplomas and, at the same time, make new friends abroad.
