EEE team Robo-Erectus@Work secured an impressive 2nd Place Award in the RoboCup@Work League at the RoboCup German Open 2025 competition, from 12 to 16 Mar 2025, Germany, edging out competitors from Germany and Greece.
The RoboCup@Work League was a major league category within the RoboCup competition, focusing on the application of robots in industrial settings. It aimed to advance R&D in autonomous mobile robots equipped with sophisticated manipulators and sensors for modern and future industrial applications. These robots are designed to collaborate with human workers in complex tasks such as automation and artificial intelligence.
This year, EEE robot, SPlackie, demonstrated an enhanced strategy that optimised navigation and point accumulation across workstations. Its advanced deep learning model for object detection allowed the manipulator to handle objects with remarkable precision. The team achieved a new milestone by recording their highest-ever overall score in the RoboCup@Work League, maintaining consistent performance throughout the competition. The team was guided by Mr. Yusuf Pranggonoh and Dr Carlos Acosta. Their details are as follows.
