"As a curious child fascinated by how things worked, my passion for understanding diseases ignited when I watched the documentary “Monsters Inside Me” on National Geographic. This intrigue stayed with me through my O-levels and led me to apply for Singapore Polytechnic’s Biomedical Science (DBS) course. I was particularly drawn to the modules on Immunology and Pathology offered under the Biomedical Research Specialisation. My goal at the time was clear—I wanted to become a scientist—and SP provided the perfect foundation to pursue this dream.
However, my time at SP expanded my perspective beyond research. The volunteer opportunities and human-to-human interactions I experienced during my studies sparked a desire to engage directly with patients. I realised I wanted a career that combined the forefront of research with meaningful human connection. This revelation inspired me to pursue Medicine after graduating from SP, with the hope of becoming a clinician-scientist. Today, I am confident that the strong foundation and transformative experiences I gained at SP have prepared me to bridge science and humanity in my future career."
