Future-Ready with PFP: Low Yong Sheng’s Rewarding PFP Experience
Award: PFP Top Student 2022
I entered SP through PFP, pursuing a Diploma in Human Resource Management with Psychology, due to my interest interacting with others.
The skills and knowledge gained from PFP modules, including project management and developing soft skills, have provided me with the stepping stones in my diploma, with Fundamentals of IT being one such example.
A few of my most memorable experiences in PFP has to be learning how to plan my own service projects for AEC. Making new connections and friends was also emphasized, with one of my favorite experiences being helping secondary school students find out more about SP's PFP and make informed choices on their post-secondary education through my involvement in SP ACER. I was also part of the Student Chapter while planning the completion ceremony was a wonderful experience. I really enjoyed myself because I spent a lot of time getting to know my peers, which helped us build strong friendships. The connections we made during this time are something special and can last a lifetime. I’m grateful to have found my best friends through this journey!
One of the most memorable lecturers who significantly impacted my learning is Mr. Phang. His caring and supportive nature truly nurtured my leadership skills, making a lasting impression on my academic journey. Similarly, Ms. Jin Ye, my Personal Tutor, was helped me during my transition from secondary school to polytechnic. She consistently checked in on us and provided invaluable support and guidance. Her teaching style in subjects like FIT and FM was particularly effective for me and helped me understand immediately, especially since I didn't have a strong background in A Math.
When it comes to navigating your path, my advice is to keep an open mind. Embrace every opportunity that comes your way and don't be quick to turn them down. This period is an excellent time to explore your interests through various CCAs and to make mistakes without the pressure of GPA consequences. However, it's crucial to remember not to neglect your responsibilities. While it's a time for exploration, ensure that you don’t fail PFP!
