Diploma in Aerospace Engineering, Class of 2024
The Common Core Curriculum (CCC) has equipped me with highly relevant skills required for the everchanging VUCA world that we live in. I found myself using the immensely useful digital and human skills for subsequent engineering modules, during my 22-week internship, and throughout my daily life. Modules such as Effective Writing for the Workplace (EWW) and Persuasive Communication with Data Storytelling (PCDS) enabled me to create succinct reports and slides to effectively communicate information to various stakeholders throughout my internship. The Sustainable Innovation Project (SIP) also ignited the creative and critical thinking in me to come up with sustainable solutions for real-life issues faced by elderly residents in rental flats.
Aligned with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the CCC enabled me to think critically and empathise with pressing issues that occur within Singapore and internationally. This is especially important as I can understand complex issues from multiple perspectives, connect and understand the issues faced, and eventually brainstorm possible solutions to forge a better and more sustainable world. Ultimately, by alleviating these issues, we can create a better and more sustainable world for future generations to enjoy higher quality of life, whilst reducing the impact of climate change on our planet.
