Applied Chemistry students clinched 3rd place at Planet Protectors Sustainability Challenge 2024

The inaugural Planet Protectors Sustainability Challenge 2024, part of EduTech Asia, took place on the 6 and 7 November 2024 at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre in Singapore. This event highlighted student-led initiatives in waste management focusing on e-waste, food waste and plastic waste utilising Google Technology tools.

A total of 15 teams from Malaysia, Thailand, The Philippines, Japan and Singapore participated. Among them, a team from Diploma in Applied Chemistry (DAPC) - Materials Science Specialisation course presented their prototype, TerraBIN, which leverages Google Teachable Machine and Google Maps to address plastic waste, collection and recycling. Throughout the two-days event, all teams showcased their solutions to visitors and pitched their ideas to judges, who evaluated them based on creativity, knowledge and research, presentation, practicality and use of Google tools. Team DAPC team clinched 3rd place.
