IBM collaboration gives SoC students access to over 1,000 AI and tech courses

IBM has announced new collaborations to provide free AI and tech training for youth and adult learners in Singapore, including a significant partnership with Singapore Polytechnic (SP). This initiative is part of IBM’s SkillsBuild program, which aims to equip learners with valuable skills and career opportunities in AI, cybersecurity, and other technology fields.

This collaboration is a major step forward in enhancing the curriculum for students at the School of Computing. The integration of IBM SkillsBuild resources into various modules of the Diploma in Applied AI & Analytics (DAAA), Diploma in Information Technology (DIT), and Diploma in Cybersecurity & Digital Forensics (DCDF) will enrich the learning experience. Students will be encouraged to pursue professional certifications in emerging areas such as Web Development and Cybersecurity, boosting their credentials and employability.

Students will have access to over 1,000 courses covering in-demand skills like AI fundamentals, GenAI, AI ethics, prompt writing, and machine learning. They will also benefit from mentorship by IBM leaders, providing guidance and industry insights. The program offers digital credentials recognized by the market, helping students stand out to potential employers. Through practical learning experiences and project-based learning, students will gain hands-on experience in real-world applications of AI and other technologies.

This collaboration aligns with Singapore’s National AI Strategy 2.0, aiming to increase the number of AI professionals and foster a vibrant AI ecosystem. Liew Chin Chuan, Director of the School of Computing at SP, emphasized that this partnership empowers students with essential tools and knowledge, preparing them for successful industry roles. This initiative not only enhances the educational experience but also significantly boosts the career prospects of SP students.
