OVERVIEW

Engineer your Future, Push the Boundaries of Possibilities

The School of Mechanical & Aeronautical Engineering (MAE) traces its roots back to 1958 when the first Technician Diploma in Mechanical Engineering was launched in Singapore.

Since then, our commitment to engineering education and excellence has remained unwavering. At MAE, our curriculum is designed to provide comprehensive knowledge and practical skills that align with industry demands. Through hands-on projects, industry collaborations, and real-world experiences, we ensure that you gain a well-rounded education that prepares you for opportunities in the engineering profession.

We pride ourselves on our strong partnerships with industries. Through internships or industry-based final-year projects, you will get to work with technology groups on research initiatives and consultancy projects to develop commercial engineering products and solutions. This valuable experience opens doors to many job opportunities for our graduates.

As a centre of excellence in advanced manufacturing, MAE collaborates closely with industry partners to adopt advanced manufacturing and Smart Factory initiatives through co-locating industrial equipment, co-developing training materials, and co-facilitating lessons. Our goal is to equip students with industry-relevant training for the evolving manufacturing landscape.

MAE's technical capabilities in green energy and green building development enable us to contribute to the SG Green Plan's Energy reset and Green Building Pillar. Our curriculum and industry projects prepare students for future careers in these areas, fostering their ability to drive sustainable solutions for a better future for all.

Do you like pushing the boundaries of what is possible? Join the School of Mechanical & Aeronautical Engineering and shape the future with your engineering innovations.

DIRECTOR'S WELCOME
MAE-Director-v01

As we navigate Singapore's ever-evolving economic landscape, intertwined with the pressing need to address sustainability challenges, our institution stands at the forefront, ready to adapt and innovate to meet the demands of tomorrow.

We understand the significance of preparing our workforce for the complexities of a rapidly changing global market. Through a holistic curriculum that prioritizes analytical reasoning, critical thinking, and effective communication, we equip our students with the skills they need to thrive in diverse, multi-disciplinary roles.

Key to our educational approach is the integration of Design Thinking (DT) methodology within the Conceive-Design-Implement-Operate (CDIO) framework across all MAE courses. This not only stimulates and engages our students but also equips them with the practical problem-solving skills necessary to tackle real-world challenges.

Furthermore, our commitment to experiential learning extends beyond our campus boundaries. Through strategic partnerships with leading industries, both locally and abroad, our students gain invaluable hands-on experience and insights into real-world scenarios. These collaborations enrich their educational journey and bolster their readiness for the workforce.

As we forge ahead, our vision remains steadfast: to produce graduates who are not only prepared for the workforce but also equipped for life and primed to make a global impact. These dynamic individuals will be instrumental in Singapore's transformation into a distinctive Asian city characterized by high-skilled individuals driving innovative and inclusive development.

Together, let us embrace the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead, confident in our ability to shape a brighter, more sustainable future for ourselves and for Singapore.
