EEE teams Robo Ranger and smurfs clinched 1st and 2nd Places respectively at RoboRoarZ 2025, in Senior Category. Co-organised by SUTD, National Robotics Programme (NRP), IEEE Singapore Section, IEEE Women in Engineering, Wefaa Robotics, and The James Dyson Foundation, the competition comprised students from educational institutes ranging from primary schools to institute of technical education, polytechnics, and universities.
This design-centred reconfigurable robotics competition aimed to foster creativity, innovation, and collaboration among the participants using SUTD-designed reconfigurable robotics platform “Smorphi”. The objective was to showcase the capability of robots to understand user commands that mirror real-life scenarios, and to enhance our daily lives.
The theme was “Transformer Robots for Food Automation”, which focused on food automation and challenged teams to design and build robots that can seamlessly transition between various mode to explore the future of robotics in food automation.
Team Robo Ranger comprising DEEE Year 2 students, Ng Zhi Yang, Annika Loi Hui Hui, Chan Zi Heng and Yosuke Nakashima; and DCPE Year 2 student Wang Rongyi clinched 1st Places in Imaginary Challenge (Senior Category) and Robotics Challenge (Senior Category).
Team smurfs comprising DCPE Year 1 students Dai Siyuan, Lee Juhn Chuan, Jonathan Lim Wei Kang; DEEE Year 1 student Balaji Elakkiya and DASE Year 1 student Tan Si Min won 2nd Place in Robotics Challenge (Senior Category).
