Two DCPE students, Seng Kay Kang Jerick and Leroy Hong Jae-Yang, clinched a Special Prize at the 16th NAPROCK international programming contest in Nara, Japan, October 2024, with their addictive VR game CATZ CATCHER that they built and developed. The game featured adorable cats constantly making attempts to escape from their dwelling. The simple aim for the player is to catch the cats and prevent them from escaping. The judges at the competition were particularly impressed by the originality and cuteness of the cat models as well as the nature of the game that kept the player moving and stretching during the game. It was an enriching experience as the project also attracted local industry entrepreneurs to share their takes on the project.
