Lianhe Zaobao, 12 May 2024 - Students from the Diploma in Applied AI & Analytics (DAAA) have developed an innovative AI system that can identify road cracks and potholes using dashcam footage and mark their locations on online maps for other drivers' awareness, improving road safety. Supervised by lecturer Steven Ng (黄义勤), the system utilises deep learning models to analyse video frames and OneMap's API to pinpoint hazards. This project was showcased at an AI conference co-hosted by AI Singapore and IMDA, highlighting its potential in leveraging accessible data for enhancing road safety.
The students who presented at the AI Conference are Lee Hong Yi, Joanna Tan Xin Yi, Ian Lim Yu Yang, Glynis Ng Hui Xuan and Yadanar Aung.
