Applied AI & Analytics student is part of the Singaporean teams to win gold at first AI Olympiad

Lianhe Zaobao, 20 August 2024 - - The first International Artificial Intelligence Olympiad was held from 9 to 15 August in Burgas, Bulgaria. The competition focused on knowledge in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), and was divided into two segments: scientific and practical. In the scientific segment, participants were tested on their knowledge of artificial intelligence, competing in areas like Natural Language Processing (NLP), machine learning, and computer vision using real-world datasets. Singapore fielded eight students from two teams which included Zhang Jia Shuo, a third-year student in the Diploma in Artificial Intelligence and Data Engineering at NYP; Lan Ning Le, a sophomore at NUS High School; Wang Jia Yu, a freshman at NUS High School; and Glenn Wu (吴学乐), a third-year student in the Diploma in Applied AI & Analytics (DAAA) at SP. The Singaporean teams won two out of the four gold medals in the scientific competition. The other two teams that won gold medals were from schools in Poland and Russia.
