Under these partnerships with NUS and SUTD, JAE students from cohort 2020 onwards, who enrol in courses offered by the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE), will take up modules taught by the universities while they are studying in SP. These university-level modules will count towards students’ graduation requirements in SP and be offered in lieu of the electives offered by SP. The credits may also be recognised by the relevant university when they choose to pursue a degree with them.
In addition, SP and SUTD have introduced the SP-SUTD Accelerated Pathway Programme (APP) that will allow EEE students to complete the regular SP curriculum in about 5 semesters, compared to the usual 6 semesters. EEE students on the APP will have the opportunity to offer SUTD modules in their final semester at SP, alongside SUTD students in their Freshmore year. This will allow APP students who choose to progress to SUTD after graduation, to complete their SUTD degree in a shorter period of time.
For students who eventually choose to further their studies in NUS, they may also receive credit exemptions, depending on their performance in these modules, and the degree course they have chosen.
Selected based on their academic merits, up to 40 current first year students will take up either of the programmes at no extra cost.
Other benefits offered by SP’s collaboration with the two universities are as follows:
The above applies to any one of the following diploma courses offered by EEE:
If you choose any one of the above 4 EEE courses in Sem2 of Year1.

With the SP Elective Framework, since the 2020 student intake, students in EEE courses have taken and are doing their modules in NUS or SUTD as SP electives. Eight EEE students who embarked on the SP-NUS Accelerated Pathway Programme (SP-NUS APP) have recently completed their programme successfully. We look forward to also seeing the successful completion of SUTD modules by students on the SP-SUTD Accelerated Pathway Programme (SP-SUTD APP).
Like their peers on the SP-SUTD APP, the eight EEE students who seized the opportunity to be on the SP-NUS APP in 2020, had wanted to experience first-hand, a university life while studying in SP, and to avail themselves of all the benefits that came with the programme. These included a chance not only to take university-level modules in lieu of electives offered by SP, but also having the credits from those modules count towards their graduation requirements in SP and also recognised by the university when they choose to pursue a degree with the university. As a result, the time from diploma to degree to work can be potentially shortened.
Those eight students have never looked back since as all of them fared well in their NUS modules. Their success in the programme has prompted Associate Prof Tham Cheng Khong of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE), NUS, to say, “it has been our pleasure to host them at ECE NUS, and we look forward to them enrolling in our B.Eng.(EE) programme. We also hope that there will be many more SP students joining the SP-NUS APP in the coming years.”
All eight students who successfully completed the SP-NUS APP had good take-aways from the programme. We append below some of their reflections.
