20 students attended the Susthack Bootcamp and Hackathon hosted by Sunway University, Malaysia from 10 to 14 Apr 2023. Together with Sunway University students, they brainstormed and developed solutions and prototypes to address challenge statements, followed by stakeholder engagement for validation of their solutions. The students also attended talks by Sunway Centre for Planetary Health, Jeffrey Sachs Center on Sustainable Development, UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) and Sunway iLabs for an overview of challenges faced by cities on environmental pollution, health risks, waste and energy management and food security; and visited iLabs, Sunway X Farms and 42 Kuala Lumpur at Sunway where they learnt of the progress by Sunway on sustainable developments in food security and food waste.
Two awards were presented to the top 2 teams for their solutions in reducing inequalities and upcycling. Project titles and student details of the 2 winning teams are as follows:
