EEE team Vroom Vroom emerged as champion in the finals of JTC Mobility Challenge 2023 on 12 Jan 2023, amid intense competition from universities such as NUS, NTU; and other polytechnics.
Organised by JTC and in partnership with ABB and Hyundai, JTC’s Future of Mobility Case Challenge 2023 was held in conjunction with JTC’s inaugural Future of Mobility X-Change Day 2023. It convened students from different multidisciplinary backgrounds to conceptualise fresh solutions for real-life challenge statements on transport. The key objective was to make Singapore’s transport infrastructure more sustainable and accessible.
Team Vroom Vroom worked on the challenge statement posed by ABB on Re-designing electric vehicle (EV) charging, on how to make the charging process more manageable, other than a retractable cable management system, as the power cables used to charge electric vehicles tend to be very heavy and hard to manage. The team designed a low-cost weightless charging cable that makes the EV charging process more user friendly. This was done by applying the concept of Tendon Driven Continuum Actuators.
