Nine EEE students participated in RoboRoarZ held over two sessions - Session 1 from 25 to 26 Mar 2023 and Session 2 from 29 to 30 Apr 2023. Three of them, Juliet Tang Chow Lok (DEEE Year 3), Mahesh S Kunalan (DEEE Year 3) and Tan Tian Kovan (DCPE Year 3) won first, third place and Innovation Award respectively.
RoboRoarZ competition was a design-centered reconfigurable robotics competition that aimed to foster creativity, innovation, and collaboration among the participants. The competition was co-organised by SUTD, National Robotics Programme, Singapore Industrial Automation Association, IEEE Singapore Section, IEEE Women in Engineering, Wefaa Robotics and Rosen Bridge. A mixed-team’ group concept was used for the competition where each group comprised five to six students from different schools and institutions.
Participants competed using the SUTD-designed reconfigurable robotic platform “Smorphi”. The objective of the competition was to apply concepts in reconfigurable robotics, design thinking, prototyping, logical reasoning, and programming. The students were coached by Yusuf Pranggonoh, Carlos Acosta and Jaichandar.
