Grundfos, a world’s leading pump manufacturer, has collaborated with Singapore Polytechnic to integrate digitalisation into the Diploma in Chemical Engineering curriculum. Through Final Year Projects, two groups of Chemical Engineering students undertook the design of a water treatment system using the CRE pump donated by Grundfos to explore ultrafiltration in water treatment applications, particularly how digital pumps can address inefficiencies in backwashing. This hands-on experience with the CRE pump is designed to enhance students’ technical skills and foster a mindset of innovation and sustainability, preparing them for the industrial demands of the energy, chemicals, pharmaceutical, and biopharmaceutical sectors. This is a strong testament of the strong collaboration between Singapore Polytechnic and Grundfos to bridge the gap between academia and the industry to provide meaningful real world learning opportunities for our students.
