Dry Eye Workshop Collaboration at Singapore Polytechnic with NUHS and Topcon

On 6 Jan 2025, Singapore Polytechnic (SP), Diploma in Optometry, hosted an insightful Dry Eye Workshop, in collaboration with ophthalmologist, Dr Chris Lim from the National University Health System (NUHS) and medical technology partner Topcon. This event aimed to educate and equip SP’s alumni, industry partners, and healthcare professionals with advanced knowledge and techniques in managing and treating dry eye disease (DED), a condition that affects millions globally.

The workshop featured a comprehensive series of lectures, hands-on demonstrations, and interactive sessions designed to delve into the latest clinical research and innovations in dry eye management. DOPT lecturer, Ms Jocelyn Chua and Dr Chris Lim provided expert insights into the pathophysiology of dry eye, diagnostic techniques, and contemporary treatment options. With Topcon’s advanced imaging technologies, participants were able to experience firsthand how these tools aid in the precise diagnosis of DED and the monitoring of patient progress.

Throughout the event, alumni and industry partners gained practical skills in using diagnostic equipment, such the Low Light Level Therapy device which participants were able to try out during the workshop. This hands-on experience was complemented by discussions on the clinical application of these technologies in real-world settings.

Targeting alumni and industry professionals, the workshop fostered collaboration between educators, healthcare providers and medical technology experts.

The successful workshop showcased Singapore Polytechnic’s commitment to providing valuable continuing education opportunities for its alumni and industry partners, while strengthening ties with leading institutions like NUHS and Topcon to improve patient vision care in Singapore.
